We are seeking a Network Engineer to join Simpaisa Holdings, a cross-border payments and remittances company operating across the Middle East and South Asia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's network architecture, connectivity, and security infrastructure across a multi-market payments platform. This encompasses network design, DNS management, CDN configuration, load balancing, peering arrangements, and secure connectivity to banking partners, payment networks, and regulatory systems. Strong expertise in Cloudflare, AWS networking, and network security for PCI-DSS compliant environments is essential. Experience with agile methodologies and collaborating with platform and security engineering teams is also preferable.
Key Responsibilities:¶
- Design, implement, and maintain network architecture across all Simpaisa Holdings environments, including production payment processing, corporate, and development networks.
- Manage and optimise Cloudflare configurations, including DNS, CDN, WAF, DDoS protection, rate limiting, and edge routing for payment APIs and merchant-facing services.
- Design and maintain AWS networking infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and VPN connectivity.
- Implement and manage load balancing solutions (Cloudflare Load Balancing, AWS ALB/NLB) for high-availability payment processing services.
- Establish and maintain secure network connectivity to banking partners, payment networks (SWIFT), card schemes, and regulatory reporting systems.
- Ensure network segmentation and controls meet PCI-DSS Cardholder Data Environment (CDE) requirements and ISO 27001 standards.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security, using observability tools to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Manage DNS infrastructure, including domain management, DNSSEC, and DNS-based traffic management across all operating markets.
- Document network architecture, configurations, peering arrangements, and connectivity diagrams clearly and comprehensively, maintained in Bitbucket repositories.
- Troubleshoot network issues affecting payment processing, providing rapid resolution for connectivity failures impacting transaction flows.
- Collaborate with security, platform, and production engineering teams to ensure network infrastructure supports reliability, security, and compliance objectives.
- Contribute to the improvement of network processes, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in network engineering, cloud networking, and security best practices for financial services.

Hands-on experience with Cloudflare (DNS, CDN, WAF, Load Balancing, Workers). Experience with load balancing, reverse proxying, and traffic management. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and network automation. Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Advanced Networking, CCNA/CCNP) are a plus.
- Payments Domain Awareness: Understanding of network requirements for payment processing systems, including low-latency connectivity, secure partner connectivity, and PCI-DSS network segmentation requirements.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with platform, security, and production engineering teams across geographically distributed locations.
