1 Introduction¶
To meet the enterprise business objectives and ensure continuity of its operations, Simpaisa shall adopt and follow well-defined and time-tested plans and procedures, to ensure that assets are labelled correctly and handled as per organisational policies. Information is considered a primary asset of an organisation. An organisation uses different types of assets. The sensitivity of these assets may vary and similarly, their handling mechanisms are also different.
The purpose of this procedure is to ensure all assets are labelled properly. This Procedure helps to facilitate the identification of organisational assets to support routine operations and active dissemination of assets. It also helps to protect the assets of Simpaisa.
2 Labelling of Information¶
Procedures shall be established for labelling in accordance with the information classification scheme. Once any asset comes under ownership of Simpaisa, Admin will assign a label to that asset. All labels should be added into the master list of labels as soon as they are assigned.
The following points shall be considered:
-
Labelling shall cover information and its related assets in physical and electronic format
-
The labelling shall reflect the classification scheme
-
The labels shall be easily recognisable
-
Guidance shall be provided on how and where the label shall be attached in consideration of how information is accessed, or assets are handled depending on types of media.
-
Awareness of labelling procedures shall be given to Employees and Contractors
-
List of disseminated assets with justification
-
Master list of asset labels according to information classification scheme.
Labelling should be a part of the annual training plan and should be part of employee orientation. Any employee found damaging an asset label should be considered as an attempt to violate company policy and intent to damage company assets.
3 Labelling Guidelines¶
-
All information assets must be distinctly labelled based on their assigned classification level: Public , Private and Restricted.
-
Individuals designated as owners of information assets are accountable for applying the appropriate classification labels and maintaining labelling accuracy.
